For Plex, Jellyfin and Emby - 115 languages

Every word of your films, one tap away.

Lalea turns the films and series on your own server into a vocabulary course. Tap any word to see what it means in this scene, save it and review it later - every word remembers where you met it.

Nothing to install. Video plays from your own server.

How it works

Three steps. The first one takes about a minute, once.

1

Connect your library

Sign in with email and add your Plex, Jellyfin or Emby server. No files to upload, nothing to install.

2

Press play

Lalea prepares the lines in your language - with AI translation when it is missing - and keeps them in time with the speech.

3

Point at any word

Its meaning in this very line, a picture, examples. Give it a level and it lands in your vocabulary - with the line, the film and the moment.

What you get

Built by someone who watches every film in the original and wanted his own library to teach him.

◎

Words with their scene

Every word keeps the line, the film and the timestamp. One click takes you back to the moment you met it.

↻

Practice that sticks

Spaced review built from your own films, a daily goal and a streak that burns at midnight.

⇄

Any language on any line

115 languages in any pair. Original and translation, two originals, or swap them around.

▤

Works with any film

Lalea uses the tracks on your server and translates them with AI when your language is missing. With Pro, even a film with no text at all can be learned from.

▣

Watch where you like

In the player right in your browser - or, with Plex, on the TV with your phone as a second screen.

✓

Leave any time

Export your words to Anki in one click. Delete your account from the account page.

Why not just...

Good tools exist. We did not find one that brings your own films, word cards and review together without setup.

Questions

Do you store my videos?

No. Video plays from your own server. We keep your sign-in, your words and the subtitles prepared for you. To translate, subtitle text goes to an AI provider; for speech recognition (Pro) the soundtrack is processed on our servers. You can delete your account from the account page.

Which servers work?

Plex, Jellyfin and Emby. Without a server you can open a video file from your computer right in the browser.

What if a film has no subtitles in my language?

Lalea translates the ones it has with AI. If there are no subtitles at all, Pro recognises the speech and makes them.

Which languages?

115, in any pair - learn French through Spanish or Korean through English. The site itself speaks all of them too.

Can I watch on my TV?

With Plex, yes: play the film in a Plex app on the TV and open Lalea on your phone - the current line and its translation follow the movie.

Can I take my words with me?

Yes. Export your words to Anki at any time, with their translations.

Do you provide films or subtitle files?

No. Lalea does not host, stream or share films, and it does not offer subtitles for download. It works with the media on your own server and the files you add, which you confirm you have the right to use. Right holders can reach us through the copyright page.
